Our Story
We met in 1986 at the skating rink and despite the young age, realized we were meant for each other quickly. 3 years later, we married and made the commitment for life. After many years of a loving stable marriage, we're looking forward to adding to our family through foster care adoption, making another commitment for life. Living in the country in a rural Virginia town with our friendly American Eskimo dog Arlo and appropriately named, but loving cat, Bonkers, we have lots of room for our child to play & run and a swimming pool in the backyard for those hot summer days. We look forward to lots of cookouts with our 'lil one, family nights and dinners together, family vacations, weekends enjoying mutual activities and even working on the homework and the not so fun stuff together. Spending summers in the pool, playing Wii together as a family in the bad weather, snow days throwing snowballs and playing in the snow, going to the bookstore on a rainy day and spending 1/2 the day picking out books and the other half reading them, planning vacations and activities together.....all this is just a small part of what we have planned.
Of course, our first priority is to make our child feel safe and loved. We’ll surround them with love and support through the good times and the challenging times. We've studied and researched attachment parenting and this fits in our style and we're looking forward to putting our lessons into practice.
Dad to be is a certified master tutor and Mom to be has a reputation as a teacher in her occupation and activities and both are well equipped to help a child succeed. Education is highly valued by both of us and we’ll ensure our child is afforded every opportunity to succeed.
We both have flexible schedules but have the advantage of being able to have Wayne to be a stay at home dad if appropriate for the child in addition to an 8 week adoption leave by Kelly, ready to carry our child to school and whatever extracurricular interests our future child may have and both will be there to record special events, as photography is a shared hobby.
We are looking forward to finding a child to spoil, love and cherish forever. We enjoy when our nieces visit us in the summers & we look forward to sharing our hearts and home with our future child.
